Unfinished business

hello. as you can see by the list of project to the right; i have not finished or even started many of the things that I am meaning to. The Ravelry Harry Potter Group that I joined was supposed to help me finish projects in a timely manner. In the beginning that was the case, but now not so much. I am not a scheduled knitter. I knit when I feel like it; plain and simple. I enjoy the idea of having the "classes" to turn in projects, but I really am disappointed with myself that I seem to find quick semi-satisfying projects to do just so I a project to turn in. I like the projects I pick out, but I generally have no use for them. Thus this month I chose only 1 project to make; yet again it is not for me. However, I have never made one before and I am enjoying the construction of it. The sweater I started almost 3 months ago will be frogged and re-started next month. It will be my focus project and I will find only 1 meaningful project to do each month. Once my sweater is finished I will move on to the unavoidable task of sock making. I have 2 pattern in my list that I will make. Then I will move on to finishing my crochet lace shawl that i started over 1.5yrs ago. once I have these main projects done, then I will move on to other things, but as for now this is my plan. Lets see how long I can manage to stick to it. Happy crafting...

My Lady

ok ya'll. i have finally done it. i have made a sweater. yep, lil' ol' me!! i was meeting with a group of gals [Marietta Yarn Overs (http://www.ravelry.com/groups/marietta-yarn-overs)], and we decided at the beginning of this year to make a sweater (aka: kal = knit-a-long (meaning you knit the same project at the same time as 1 or more other folks do). the sweater we chose was [the February Lady sweater(http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/february-lady-sweater)]. i however, never got past the collar. as, i wanted to make the sweater; i decided to use it as my first OWL for HPKCHC [Harry Potter Knit Crochet House Cup group(http://www.ravelry.com/groups/hp-knitting-crochet-house-cup)]. i had the whole fall term (sept-nov) to complete it. there was to be a 50% mark at the end of oct, and i missed that one. i was so not focused on completing it. while working on my sweater; i made so many errors i thought i would never finish. in the garter stitch section before the lace, i misunderstood the pattern and forgot to put in 10 yo (yarn overs). i had to fix that error, not to mention all the pattern errors that i made throughout working on it. nevertheless, it is finished. i started it on Sept 3 and finished it on Nov 29. for your viewing pleasure:

Busy at Work

OK. so very much never get things done in a timely manner. so, when i heard about the Harry Potter Knit/Crochet Group on Ravelry; i had to check it out. This little group puts up classes that you make projects for and post photos of your finished projects by the end of the month; and you get points. NO, the points arent really worth anything, but they are tallied and whichever house has the most wins the house cup (just like in the books)!! Double motivation for me :) So, since joining the group in June 2010 i have managed to complete.... are you ready for this? i have completed 23 projects!!!! i am about 1/3 done with my first sweater! i am blocking my first scarf! this group has been great for me :) here are some photos of my finished projects:

Deathday Festivities

hello to all. i was given the task of creating something for Sir. Nicolas's Deathday Party. ok, so what do you bring to a party for ghosts? well, they don't eat muggle food, they don't like our music, and our decorations just won't do. while i was cleaning the kitchen i was pondering this difficult task i had before me. i was putting the bread back in the bread box, and to my suprise, i found a cupcake! now, mind you i hadn't made cupcakes in months. so, my first thought was GROSS, TOSS THIS THING QUICK!! then it hit me. Ghosts love old, moldy food!! now, yes my children were advised not to store perishable foods in the bread box. so, their desire to save the LAST cupcake saved solved my task at hand. Thus, homework for HoM - HPKCHC Oct 10 - complete!!

Socks cont...

ok. so, i am 1/5 done with my first sock and i havent touched them since. i havent been in the mood to do much knitting. not to mention, i have had to work every night this week and i have been home during the days with the children. these socks need lots of concentration and with them running around crazy, i havent had the courage to work on them. i am hoping to work on them at some point this weekend. i work on saturday night, so not sure if it will be tomorrow, but we will see. i know i was very excited and proud of myself when i finished the first diamond and i know that i will be even more excited to complete the next one.

Socks, Finally!!

ok! so; yes, it has been a long time since my last post. so, why you ask, well there really hasnt been much going on to write about; so instead of just blabbering about nothing i choose not to write. well, now i have something to write about. SOCKS!!! yes socks. i have started my first pair of socks finally. i started them on saturday 12-12-09 with my local knitting group. there is a member of the group that has been knitting forever, and she has so graciously offered to knit the socks along with me and give me instructions as needed. i have chosen a toe up sock with some lace detailing as to not get bored. i purchased my yarn from www.knittersbrewing.com and the pattern came for free (not a bad deal at all). i am making the girls best friend sock. so, on saturday, i wound my yarn and learned to 2 new techniques. i learned the 2 needles cast-on, yes i am making them on 2 circular needles and not on dpns (double pointed needles) and i learned a new make-one. i managed to finish the toe section of the first sock, what an accomplishment.
